TASHKENT, May 13: An attempted intruder was shot dead at the Israeli embassy in Tashkent on Friday by security guards who suspected he was about to blow himself up in a suicide attack. The would-be intruder who tried to force his way into the Israeli embassy in Tashkent was discovered not to have been wearing explosives as initially thought, an Israeli official said.

The official, however, said the man had been testing the boundaries of security with a view to carrying out a suicide attack. “The guards fired first into the air, then at his legs and finally at the suspect’s body as he continued to advance,” said a statement from the Israeli prime minister’s office.—AFP
