Shoaib to raise funds for WFP

ISLAMABAD, May 12: Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, dropped for this months tour of West Indies, is to take part in a walk aimed at raising awareness and funds for eradicating child hunger. Fight Hunger: Walk the World is a truly global event being organized jointly by the World Food Programme (WFP) and a courier company which will take place in hundreds of communities over 24 hours and across all 24 time zones on June 12.

Amjad Jamal of WFP told Dawn on Thursday that Shoaib had agreed to walk the 2.5km distance in Islamabad and will be among a crowd that is also likely to have federal and state ministers.

The walk, which will start from the Lal Quarters Intersection, will conclude at the square in front of the Parliament Building.
