HYDERABAD: The ‘march on foot’ started by the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz-Arisar (JSQM-A) from Bhitshah on Wednesday passed through Hyderabad on Saturday.

Led by JSQM-A chairman Dr Mir Alam Marri, the participants converged on the local press club and raised slogans in favour of their six demands including production of all victims of alleged enforced disappearances in courts of law, restoration of Sindh’s natural resources to the province and repatriation of all illegal immigrants to their country of origin from the country, especially Sindh.

Speaking about the other demands, Dr Marri called for abrogation of the 1991 Water Accord to replace it with the 1945 Sindh-Punjab Water Accord; effective steps against terrorism, religious extremism and usurpation of minorities’ rights; and granting Sindhi the status of national language.

The march (titled Paidal Sindh march) is planned to end outside the Karachi Press Club on March 4. Published in Dawn, February 18th, 2018
