QUETTA: The Sindh government has transferred the ownership of properties detected and seized in DHA Karachi by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to the government of Balochistan.

The properties include plots and bungalows worth Rs1.25 billion, Balochistan NAB officials said on Thursday.

The Sindh government and NAB discovered benami properties of some accused in a corruption case.

According to investigators, the arrested persons had made illegal properties, including expensive houses. They also purchased commercial and residential plots in Karachi.

The properties were purchased in the name of the residents of remote areas of Sindh and Balochistan. NAB officials said investigation officer Shoaib Sheikh had identified the buyers.

In May 2016, Balochistan NAB had raided the official residence of former finance secretary of Balochistan Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani and arrested him after recovering Rs630 million in cash and gold ornaments worth millions of rupees.

On the orders of the NAB chairman, a committee was formed under deputy director Shoaib Sheikh to investigate the case and find out the owners of illegal properties.
