PESHAWAR, May 10: Commander 11th Corps Lt-Gen Safdar Hussain has said tribal areas have become safe places as a result of military operations carried out against foreign terrorists in the region. Speaking at a special darbar in Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday, Gen Safdar said that army troops had undertaken successful operations in the tribal area along the Afghan border and the region had been secured.

He said that peace and stability had been restored in the South Waziristan Agency due to selfless devotion of security forces who had flushed out foreign terrorists.

He said: “Your mission is not yet over. The uplift of backward areas is another module of the mission assigned to the troops.”

Gen Safdar said that the deployment of troops was a source of strength for peaceful tribesmen, and the security forces fully honoured tribal sensibilities and traditions.

He also visited different areas in South Waziristan and told them that work on uplift projects was going on at full speed.
