HBL opens branch in Gwadar

KARACHI: Habib Bank Ltd (HBL) on Monday opened its branch in the Gwadar Free Zone.

The bank’s target market is not just limited to customers in Pakistan and China but it aims to market CPEC opportunities across borders using its international reach and customer base.

HBL is the only bank which has branches in Gwadar and China.

OICCI gets new president

KARACHI: Nestle Pakistan CEO Bruno Boris Olierhoek has been elected president of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) for 2018.

This was announced at the 158th annual general meeting of the OICCI held on Wednesday, a press release said.

Unilever Pakistan CEO Ms Shazia Syed was elected unopposed as vice-president.

7th LDFA expo from Feb 10

KARACHI: Sindh’s Livestock and Fisheries Minister Muhammad Ali Malkani announced on Wed­nes­day that the 7th edition of Livestock Dairy Fisheries Agriculture (LDFA) exhibition will be held at the Shehr-e-Benazir, Larkana from Feb 10-11.

Speaking at the Sindh Board of Investment (SBI), he said that the province can play a vital role in ensuring food security provided focus was on exploiting the potentials of various agriculture sectors.

Agriculture provides employment to 40 per cent of the provincial labour force and contributes 20pc towards country’s GDP, he pointed out.—Reporter

Banknotes with Bajwa’s signature

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan will start issuing banknotes bearing the signature of SBP Governor Tariq Bajwa with effect from Feb 2.

The banknotes bearing the signatures of his predecessors will continue to remain in circulation as legal tender, said a press release on Wednesday.
