KHAR: The father of a labourer, who was killed along with a colleague in Lahore, threatened here on Tuesday to go on hunger strike if the killers of his son were not arrested immediately.

Addressing a news conference, Gul Zaman Khan, a resident of Barkholozo area, said that his son Ziaur Rahman and his colleague Awal Khan were shot dead at Data Darbar Market on January 12 by unidentified assailants.

He said that his son was the lone bread earner of the family. “We are poor people. We have been living in the house of a landlord since long. It was the great desire of my son to build his own house but his dream could not come true,” he added.

The 60-year-old Gul Zaman Khan criticised the Punjab government for not arresting the killers of his son despite lapse of two weeks. He said that he expected the Punjab government especially Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to provide justice to them by arresting the killers.

He appealed to the prime minister, president, chief justice of Pakistan, chief justice of Lahore High Court, chief minister of Punjab and Lahore Corps Commander to to provide justice to him by helping in arrest of the killers of his son.

Mr Khan threatened to on hunger strike along with his family members if the killers of his son were not arrested within the next three days.

DISPUTE: Speakers at a ceremony termed resolution of personal disputes necessary for socio-economic development of the agency.

The ceremony was held in Badan area the other day to resolve a dispute between local families. The ceremony was attended by hundreds of tribesmen, elders of various sub-tribes and workers of different political and religious parties.

Speaking on the occasion, former governor Eng Shaukatullah Khan, Assistant Political Agent Anwarul Haq, tribal elders Malik Sultanzeb, Malik Mohammad Ayaz Khan, PTI leader Gul Zafar Khan and religious scholar Mohammad Ayub said that personnel disputes and clashes not only disturbed peace but also hampered socio-economic development of the region.
