LAHORE: Special Committee of Experts Chairman Justice Sayed Zahid Husain visited on Saturday the Shalamar Gardens, Gulabi Bagh Gateway and Bhudu’s Tomb and monitored vibration equipment installed by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA).

The body was made by the Supreme Court to monitor implementation of its instruction in the Orange Line case.

The chairman directed the National College of Arts principal, and the head of the structure engineering division of the UET to pay frequent and surprise visits to the monuments in question in order to ensure their safety.

The chairman reviewed the progress of work and inquired from the members of the committee regarding the measures adopted by the executing agency for the safety and stability of the monuments. The director general of the archaeology department briefed about the steps taken by the LDA, Nespak and archaeology in the light of the previous meeting of the special committee held on Jan 11, 2018.

The LDA director general and the chief engineer and the Nespak managing director briefed the committee regarding the work from Derra Gujran to Ali Town with the help of drone technology and also about the precautionary measures adopted at and near the historical sites and monuments for their safeguard.

They also apprised the committees that the result of sound and vibration collected from various monuments falling near the project were within the allowable limits.
