MINGORA/NOWSHERA: Awami National Party provincial president Ameer Haider Khan Hoti on Tuesday alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had set new records of corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and did not address public issues.

He was addressing his party gathering at Manyar Swat where several political workers and their families from other parties joined ANP.

Mr Hoti said that his party served the Pakhtun nation and carried out mega projects in KP during its tenure.

“The PTI leaders and ministers are involved in corruption and they have violated all forms of merit,” he said.

He said that before the tenure of ANP only six universities were established in 60 years, while they constructed 10 universities in the province. He said that PTI had failed to carry out a mega project so far in the province. He also censured PML-N and said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had made several promises about the construction of Swat motorway, but never fulfilled it.

In Nowshera, ANP general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that his party would never allow the derailing of democratic process in the country and would strongly resist such moves.

Addressing a public meeting in Akbarpura area here the other day, he said that some elements were trying to take undemocratic steps in the country, but his party would continue supporting the continuation of democratic process.

“The Awami National Party is a democratic political party and wants the democracy to take root in the country,” he said.

Mr Hussain said that his party would ensure ‘real peace’ in the country after coming to power.

He criticised the federal government for not taking action against the banned militant outfits under the National Action Plan and said that inaction showed that the rulers didn’t care for the people and instead, they cared for own interests only.

The ANP leader said the people had realised that they had committed a mistake by voting for PTI in the last elections as the party had failed to deliver in the province.

“The Awami National Party is the only political party fighting war for the rights of Pakhtuns. Now the people are extending support to it by joining it in large numbers,” he claimed.
