QUETTA: Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has pledged to create employment opportunities in the province.

Talking to members of various delegations who held meetings with him at the Chief Minister Secretariat on Tuesday, Mr Bizenjo said that the government would use all available resources for the solution of problems the people of the province were facing.

He said his government would give special attention to the issue of unemployment.

The chief minister said all vacant positions in government departments would be filled soon, adding that appointments would be made purely on merit.

Asks police chief to improve security situation

The members of the delegations congratulated Mr Bizenjo on becoming the chief minister of the province and apprised him about their problems.

Mr Bizenjo said he was enjoying the support of various parties in the provincial assembly.

He said the people of the province wanted the government to give special attention to the health and education sectors.

Mr Bizenjo praised a recently issued document which carried edicts (fatwas) by hundreds of ulemas and religious scholars against suicide attacks.

He said extremism was one of the biggest problems the country was facing today. He called for recognition of the sacrifices the country has rendered in the war against terror.

He expressed the hope that the people would support security forces in their task of defeating terrorists.

He condemned the killing of a police constable in the Raisani road area. He directed the inspector general of police to make better security arrangements for the provincial capital.
