KARACHI: Country’s top junior boys and girls are expected to feature in the seventh Rehana Nazar National Junior Squash Championship which is set to commence at Rashidabad, Tando Allayar, from Saturday.

The event, which is being held under the aegis of Rashid Memorial Welfare Organisation in collaboration with Sindh Squash Association and Tando Allayar/Hyderabad district squash associations, carries a purse of Rs0.3 million. It concludes on Jan 17.

According to organisers, 134 players – 100 boys and 34 girls – will compete in the qualifying and main rounds.

The break-up of boys includes Sindh 24, Punjab 23, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 35, PAF 16, SNGPL and Balochistan one each.

The break-up of girls includes Sindh 15, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 11, Punjab four, SNGPL three and PIA one.

The event will be played in boys under-11, under-13, under-15, under-17 and under-19 and girls under-15 and under-19.

Arrangements of boarding and lodging of players, coaches and officials have been made close to the squash complex.

An organizing committee headed by Iqbal Samad has been formed. It includes Mrs Khursheed (vice-chairman), Tahir Jamil Khanzada (tournament director) and Aijaz Sheikh (tournament secretary).
