GUJRANWALA, May 6: The Satellite Town police have failed to arrest the ruling party MPA Amanat Virk and other nominated accused in the murder case of four people near sessions court even after three days of the incident. They had murdered Bhadey village landlord Pervaiz and his gunmen Arshad Chattha and Wilson Masih besides a passer-by Muhammad Boota of Farid Town, Gujranwala, who were returning after attending court proceedings. A case was registered against 20 people.

Police said the accused were riding a rickshaw and arrested driver Abbas Ahmad on Friday besides impounding his vehicle.

The SHO said police were conducting raid for the arrest of the accused without any success.

PROTEST: The residents of Talwandi Musa Khan demonstrated outside the DPO’s office on Friday against Jandiala Baghwala police for torturing and allegedly killing of an accused in custody. They said police raided accused Anser Iqbal’s residence for his arrest. Fearing that Anser might be killed by the police, his family surrendered him before a court which gave him in police custody. Police were claiming that Anser had escaped.
