THE GRAPEVINE

Shaan, Shamyl and the whole shebang

A day after Arth — The Destination hit the cinema screens and the film’s reviews began to fill cyberspace and news pages, Shaan Shahid (the film’s director and actor) posted on Facebook that “Karachi’s critics” were part of an “intrigue” because his project was a Lahore production.

Actor Shamyl Khan in response criticised him for “blaming everyone” and highlighted the fact that Arth is a “poorly made” film. To be honest, Shaan S made a hasty and uncalled-for remark because not all Karachi critics dissed the movie.

In this very magazine his effort was given a more considered review to which he reacted by saying “truth finds a way.” Shaan later also claimed the post on his page was made by his manager. What’s that they say about workmen and his tools?

Tattoo trouble

Poor Saba Qamar. Little does she know, social networking websites are full of self-proclaimed intellectuals, righteous men and experts (on everything under the sun).

Check this: the Hindi Medium girl posted on Twitter a picture of the back of her neck on which there was a tattoo. She asked her followers to decipher the image on the nape. What she got, instead, was a series of comments disapproving of her tattoo on religious grounds? It even sparked off a little war of words among her fans.

Tch, tch … Saba Q, you should’ve just told them it’s a sticker tattoo.

Old flames rekindled?

No, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are not getting back together. But wait, something strange happened at the Anushka-Virat wedding reception which has caused tongues to wag.

Katrina K was busy at the ceremony talking to Karan Johar about something that K-Jo seemed deeply interested in. A couple of minutes into the conversation, Ranbir K sauntered in. Just when he was about to say something to his former girlfriend, Ayan Mukherjee (director of Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani) jumped in from behind, held Ranbir K by the arm, and took him away.

Ah, the mystery of unsaid words!

Plastic grace

This is a little weird and a little funny. Apparently Brad Pitt was so emotionally disturbed by his separation from Angelina Jolie 15 months ago that he went under the knife and got his face touched up by a cosmetic surgeon!

Yes, Hollywood insiders claim that earlier this year the A-list actor went to a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon and got “fillers, Botox and some eye work” done, and this is why his forehead now appears smooth and shiny.

We’ve all heard about the addiction to therapy in Hollywood and shopping as therapy, but this is the first time we’ve heard of botox therapy.

Her New Year resolution

You can’t keep Kim Kardashian away from the media glare. The reality TV star knows how to stay relevant in showbiz.

A couple of days before the year 2017 said goodbye to us, a friend asked her if she had any New Year resolutions. Pat came the reply: “My New Year resolution is to be on my phone less and be more in the moment.”

Guess ‘breaking the internet’ is not all it’s cracked up to be. But then again, resolutions are meant to be broken, right?

Bullet Raja

Here’s a case of life imitating art. Saif Ali Khan is the Nawab of Pataudi, but on the sets of a film, very few actors give blood and sweat the way he does. Sometimes quite literally.

Recently, while filming an action-packed song sequence for an upcoming movie Kaalakaandi, the Nawab was supposed to do some aerial firing. Rehearsing for the scene and immersed in the discussion with the action director, he unintentionally pulled the gun’s trigger. The recoil pressure of the weapon injured Saif AK’s thumb badly, so much so that he was taken to a hospital where he was treated and his thumb was bandaged. He, however, returned to the set the next day.

Those of you who don’t to know what the phrase ‘jumping the gun’ means, this is it.
