LAHORE: The police arrested a woman for alleged murder of a lawyer in the Mughalpura area on Monday.

The police said the deceased Waheed Ahmad, 35, had a minor daughter from his first wife who had passed away. He had reportedly contracted second marriage with a relative girl.

Quoting relatives of Waheed, a police official said he was administered poison by a woman ‘U’ who had a grudge against him for not marrying her.

He said the woman had called Waheed to her home and mixed poison in his food.

Sharing details, he said the suspect was a widow and a mother of four. She used to visit Waheed’s chamber in a case where their relationship started.

The police official said the woman had left her Faisalabad house and started living in Mughalpura.

Quoting deceased’s brother Afzaal, the official said Waheed had contracted second marriage with a girl from his relatives.

The police claim to have arrested the woman and lodged a case against her on the complaint of Waheed’s brother.

INJURED: Seven members of a family were injured in an accident in Manga Mandi.

According to the police, the family was coming back from Okara in a van after attending a marriage ceremony.

As soon as they reached near Manga Mandi, the van overturned due to speeding.

Seven members of the family were injured and they were shifted to hospital by Rescue 1122 where the condition of two of them was stated to be serious.

WOMAN DIES: A truck crushed a woman to death near Pakistan Mint in Baghbanpura.

Initial police reports said Shumaila Sohail was crossing the road when the truck hit her, killing her on the spot.

Quoting the family, the police said Shumaila, a mother of three, was four-month pregnant.

The locals caught the driver and handed him over to the police who seized the truck.

A case was lodged against the driver.
