PESHAWAR, May 3: The Frontier Printers and Publishers Association on Monday held a demonstration at the Qissakhawani Bazaar against to protest against the blocked sewerage line in Mohallah Jangi. Enraged by indifference, of the Town administration the association’s president Mian Mohammad Azam Arrain said that they had lodged several complaints with the chief officer of the Town-I requesting him to make arrangements for opening the choked drain.

The protesters were also joined by shopkeepers of the Khyber Bazaar in the protest. Tehy chanted slogans against the provincial government and the Town-I administration.

Mr Arrain said that the emergency telephone number of the Town-I had not been responding for two days and shopkeepers as well as pedestrians were facing tremendous hardships in the narrow street of Mohallah Jangi.

He said that they would organise a march towards the Chief Minister’s House if the administration failed to initiate action against the chief officer of the Town-I. They also expressed concern that the chief minister never bothered to visit the historic Qissakhawani Bazar to apprise himself of its problems and take initiatives for their resolution.

Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
