LAHORE, May 2: The Pakistan Cricket Board ad hoc committee on Monday banned all-rounder Shoaib Malik from one Test and fined him 75 percent of match fee from the first two One-day Internationals of the upcoming West Indies tour for deliberately throwing away a Twenty20 Cup match.

“The committee, which took decisions in light of recommendations by an inquiry committee which probed the matter, also issued a severe reprimand to Shoaib Malik and the Sialkot regional team, management and coach for their responsibility in manipulating the result of the match,” said a PCB press release.

A board official said that the PCB was also considering mounting inquiry into other matches of the competition. The inquiry committee comprised Haroon Rasheed, Shafiq Ahmed, and legal advisor Asghar Haider.

Shoaib while leading Sialkot Stallions threw away a match to Karachi Zebras in an attempt to prevent Lahore Eagles’ march. Later, he confessed he did it deliberately as protest over a decision which went against them in a match against Lahore Eagles.
