LAKKI MARWAT: A wanted criminal was killed by his rival while another outlaw was arrested by police in separate incidents here on Monday.

Police said an outlaw named Asif was returning after attending a wedding in Tajazai area, when his rival sprayed him with bullets near Bega locality.

Bahadar Zaman told police he was accompanying the victim when accused Mumtaz opened fire on them, saying he escaped the sudden attack, but Asif was seriously wounded. He said the victim’s family had a blood feud with the family of killer.

Police said a patrolling party headed by SHO Haider Ali Shah reached the place after hearing gunshots and found Asif lying in a pool of blood.

They said the cops seized an AK-47 rifle and bullets from the wounded outlaw and shifted him to the district headquarters hospital, Tajazai. Asif, who was wanted by police in around 10 murder, attempted murder and other cases of heinous nature, later succumbed to injuries, they added.

Separately, the same police party arrested an outlaw after exchange of fire in Tajazai area.

A police official identified the proclaimed offender as Badiuzaman, saying they also recovered an AK-47 rifle and bullets from him.

POSTER COMPETITION: District boy scouts association organised a poster competition among the boy scouts and students of government schools in connection with the anti-corruption week activities on Monday.

The contest was held at government higher secondary school, Tajazai.

Mudassir of government high school No 2, Lakki City, stood first in the competition followed by Tanveer Ahmad and Rehmanullah of government high school, Tajazai, who secured second and third positions, respectively.

ADO Sports Nisar Mohammad distributed trophies and cash prizes among the position holding students.

He appreciated the scouts and students for taking part in the art competition and said the association would continue holding healthy activities for students in state-run schools.
