LAKKI MARWAT: Additional District and Sessions Judge-III Naser Kamal Khan Yousafzai on Saturday handed down death sentence on three counts to a man involved in a triple-murder case.

According to the prosecution, the accused Humayun along with four accomplices had killed three people and injured two others in the limits of Tajori police station on Dec 9, 2009.

The police had registered a case against the killers under section 302, 324, 427, 148 and 149 of PPC and presented challan before the court after completing the investigation.

The court also awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment to the convict and imposed a compensatory fine of Rs6 million on him that would be paid to the legal heirs of the deceased persons.

In case of default, the convict will undergo another six years in prison.

The court also issued perpetual arrest warrants of his four other accomplices.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested two wanted outlaws during a search operation in the forests located near Peerwala village on Saturday.

An official said the action was initiated on the directives of DPO Arif Shebaz Khan wherein Elite Force commandos backed by armoured personnel carriers also participated.

The law enforcers destroyed the hideouts of wanted criminals in dense forests on the bank of Kurrum River, he maintained.

The official said the cops captured two proclaimed offenders — Iqbal and Fazalur Rehman — wanted in murder, attempted murder and other cases of heinous nature. Two AK-47 assault rifles, six magazines and a good number of bullets were seized from the arrested men. They were shifted to Lakki police station.
