PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau has authorised an inquiry against owners of a housing society in the provincial capital for allegedly depriving public of Rs1.12 billion.

The inquiry was authorised by the bureau’s regional board meeting (RBM) chaired by Brig (r) Farooq Naser Awan, the director general of NAB (KP), according to a statement issued here on Sunday.

It was stated that Chinar Gul alias Hamza and Waliullah, managing director, Sheikh Yaseen Town Peshawar, had lured innocent individuals to invest in the housing society. Despite receiving full payments, they had not handed over the possession of plots to the affected persons. The accused were now criminally using clients’ investment in other commercial projects in Peshawar, Mardan and Rawalpindi.

The meeting also decided to initiate preliminary probe into complaints against officers and officials of revenue department Hairpur and others for allegedly committing corruption and corrupt practices and illegally transferring shamilat land at Mauza Najafpur, Haripur despite a ban on transfer of such land.

The meeting also took cognisance of corrupt practices by Mohammad Zubair, executive engineer of communicating and works department, FR Kohat, and others.

The bureau also ordered probe against officers and officials of irrigation department, subdivision Charsadda, regarding corruption and corrupt practices.
