A member of a peace committee was killed, along with five of his traveling companions, in a bomb blast in South Waziristan in what was the second militant attack to take place on Eid Miladun Nabi.

According to a source in the political administration, peace commitee member Wali Jan and five others were killed when a roadside bomb detonated in Tehsil Saroki on Thursday.

The source said the victims were traveling to an as yet undetermined location when an improvised explosive device planted along their route went off, killing Jan and five others on the spot and leaving two others seriously injured.

Security forces reached the spot soon after the explosion. They cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation for the culprits.
