LAHORE, Oct 20: The City District Government Community Development will organize a one-day seminar on the ‘Future of Kite Flying’ at the Wapda House auditorium here on Tuesday (today).

Wapda Chairman Lt-Gen Zulfiqar Ali Khan (retired), Senators Dr Khalid Ranjha and S.M Zafar, PTI Chairman Imran Khan, PAT Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri, Lesco managing director Brig Riaz Toor and office-bearers of kite flying, kite manufacturing and dealers associations will be among the 400 participants from different walks of life who will express their views. District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmud will preside over the seminar.

The seminar has been organized to discuss measures for making the kite flying a safe sport and suggest amendments to the provincial law on kite flying for the purpose.

A ban has been imposed on the manufacture and flying of kites and sale and purchase of the kite flying materials in the city since July 1 after the death of some two dozen people following the cutting of their throats by the thread of stray kites. — Reporter
