The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) closed almost flattish on Friday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index losing 17 points to close at 40,248.

The benchmark witnessed a drastic decline towards the end of the first half of the day to hit a day's low at 40,083 points. However, the market rebounded in the second half to touch a day's high at 40,368 points.

In all, 106.3 million shares worth Rs4.5 billion changed hands during the day. Shares of 328 scrips were traded during the session, out of which 152 symbols gained, 162 declined and 14 remained unchanged.

The power generation and distribution sector dominated trading for the third session in a row, with 17.8m shares traded. The textile and banking sectors followed with 10.8m and 8.7m shares traded, respectively.

K-Electric Ltd: 25.9m shares traded [+6.00pc]

Azgard Nine: 9.5m shares traded [+3.23pc]

B.O.Punjab: 5.3m shares traded [-0.72pc]

Tri-Star Poly(R): 5.0m shares traded [-17.78pc]

TRG Pak Ltd: 4.0m shares traded [-0.36pc]
