RAWALPINDI: A 17-year-old boy was gunned down by his class fellows over a petty issue in Gulistan Colony Tuesday night, police said.

In his FIR, Nasir Mehmood, the father of victim Sharjeel Nasir and a resident of Defence Housing Scheme-I, said his younger son Sharjeel was an O-level student at the St Mary’s Academy and also went for tuitions to a private academy after school in the Civic Centre Bahria Town.

He said his son left the house for tuition with his friends on Tuesday but did not return.

He said he got worried and started a search for Sharjeel and went to his friend’s house in Gulistan Colony as well.

The father said he heard his son’s friend tell someone not to come close or he will teach Sharjeel a lesson for fighting with him.

He claimed that later another friend of his son’s pulled out a gun and shot Sharjeel in the chest. He was taken to the Fauji Foundation Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police say they have arrested the suspect and launched investigations.

In an unrelated incident, a man was killed and another injured when their motorcycle was hit by a taxi in the limits of the Race Course police on Wednesday.

Rameez Pervez, 22 and his cousin Yasir Hussain were going to Dhoke Syedan on his motorcycle when they were hit by a recklessly driven taxi. Rameez was killed on the spot while Yasir was injured and was allowed to go home after receiving medical treatment at a hospital. The taxi driver managed to escape.
