QUETTA, Aug 28: A dacoit was killed and a police constable injured in an encounter at Killi Bangulzai in Sariab police station area.

SSP Abdul Tareen told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday that a police party led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Abdul Baqi tried to stop some suspects on Tuesday night at Killi Bangulzai, but they opened fire.

The police party also retaliated killing an armed man, whereas a constable, Ramzan, received bullet injuries in the crossfire, the Senior Superintendent of Police said, adding that the other dacoits escaped in the darkness.

He said the injured constable was taken to the civil hospital, where doctors say he was serious.

The SSP said three constables had been promoted to the next grades, and cash award had been announced for the police party.
