HYDERABAD: Describing universities as agents of change, speakers at a seminar called for adopting new techniques in the construction of high-rise buildings.

This was highlighted during a one-day seminar and workshop titled `Design of tall buildings’ held on Wednesday at the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET). The workshop was organised by the Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering Prof Aneel Kumar in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT Solution) Thailand, a press release said.

Executive Director of AIT (Solution) Dr Navaid Anwar said MUET was known as one of the best universities while its Civil Engineering Department was producing good civil engineers.

Vice Chancellor, MUET, Prof Aslam Uqaili said that high-rise buildings were increasing in urban areas.

He hoped the students of the varsity would gain a lot from this workshop and seminar. Others also spoke on the occasion.
