A car carrying a family fell off a road into a deep gorge near Murree, killing all six people onboard, DawnNews reported on Sunday.

Police official Qasim Jadoon told AP that three young girls were among the dead along with their father and grandfather.

Jadoon said the incident took place some 160 kilometres north of Abbottabad. Villagers and rescue workers retrieved the bodies after an hours-long effort.

Initial reports suggested that five people died on the spot, whereas, the driver of the car was being treated for critical injuries. However, DawnNews subsequently reported that the driver also succumbed to his injuries.

Such accidents often take place because of poor road conditions and disregard for safety standards and traffic rules by motorists.
