THIS refers to the article ‘Storytelling’ (Nov 10) by Zubeida Mustafa. I would like to add a few more points here. As a children’s author, I myself have experienced a positive change in the behaviour of children when they listen to stories with interest and concentration.
In my opinion, storytelling is the strongest tool to teach a child without putting too much burden on his mind if the story is the one with which he or she can connect. This process teaches him many things without a textbook.
I am not denying the importance of textbooks, but like many other educated and child-friendly countries, storytelling should be a regular part of the curriculum.
