KARACHI: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Sindh Government Press (SGP) will kick off the inaugural Naya Nazimabad Quaid-i-Azam Departmental Football Tournament when they meet in the opening game at the KMC Stadium on Sunday.

The draws for the tournament were held on Saturday evening, throwing up a fiery Chaman derby between Muslim Trading and Pak-Afghan Clearing Agency and an all-Karachi clash between Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Karachi United amongst the highlights.

Despite rumours that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) were also due to take part in the 16-team tournament, the first in Karachi since the NBP Presidents Cup in January, they were not in the draw and their place was taken by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).

Draws:

Group ‘A’: Sui Southern Gas Company, Gwadar Port Authority, Pakistan Steel Mills, Sindh Police.

Group ‘B’: Khan Research Laboratories, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limeted, Pakistan Power Works Department, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.

Group ‘C’: Karachi Port Trust, Karachi United, Ashraf Sugar Mills, Asia Ghee Mills.

Group ‘D’: National Bank of Pakistan, Pak-Afghan Clearing Agency, Sindh Government Press, Muslim Trading Chaman.
