DERA MURAD JAMALI: Police have recently arrested 300 people for their alleged involvement in cases of robberies, murders and attempt to murder in Nasirabad.

Nasirababd police arrested the criminals during a month-long drive launched to purge the area of anti-social elements.

Nasirabad Range Deputy Inspector General Police Nazeer Ahmed Kurd talking to media on Friday said that since he believed in zero-tolerance for crimes, he launched the drive with full determination.

He said that 183 absconders had been arrested against whom cases were being pursued in various courts. Besides, 37 proclaimed offenders were taken into custody along with 80 others involved in other crimes, he said, adding that security in Dera Murad Jamali and other towns was also tightened after deployment of additional security personnel and further patrolling of security personnel on roads and highways.

Furthermore, police had been deployed at all entry and exit points of towns and cities of Nasirabad, the DIG said and added that police recovered illegal weapons from the possession of 15 people who had been booked under the Arms Act.

Meanwhile, tinted glasses from 500 vehicles were removed, Mr Kurd said, adding: “We have increased security at Sindh-Balochistan border posts by deploying more security personnel to keep a check on criminals.”

The DIG warned police officials against committing any negligence, saying that departmental action would be taken against those found guilty.
