ISLAMABAD: A man was killed and two of his siblings were injured during a violent clash in the capital on Friday.

Police said another group that the victims had a dispute with had come to the victims’ residential area, behind Zia Masjid. A scuffle broke out, during which one of the groups opened fire at the victims before fleeing.

The three siblings suffered multiple bullet wounds, they said, adding that they were taken to a hospital where Khurram Pervez was pronounced dead. The two injured victims, Yasir and Nasir Khan, were given medical assistance and kept at the hospital under observation.

Police said one of the victims is in critical condition.

Homicide Unit Inspector Ahmed Kamal said the reason behind the killing has not been ascertained, but the suspects had come to the victims’ locality and killed one brother and injured two.

The suspects are natives of Afghanistan, one of whom was released from prison on bail last week, he added. He was arrested for his alleged involvement in extortion in the Khanna area.

Mr Kamal said the suspect was also involved in an encounter with the police before he was arrested.
