ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s services exports witnessed a growth of 9 per cent year-on-year to $457.78 million in September, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday.

The growth in export of services mainly remained driven by finance and insurance, transport and storage, wholesale and retail trade, public administration and defence.

In three months between July to September, export proceeds of services recorded a growth of 5.6pc over the corresponding period of last year.

Last year, Pakistan’s exports of services recorded a growth of 1.76pc year-on-year to $5.55bn.

The import of services were up 7.4pc to $2.5bn in Jul-Sept as against $2.36bn over the corresponding period last year. On a monthly basis, the import of services dipped 7.4pc year-on-year to $733.15m.

In the year 2016-17, import of services increased 2.96pc year-on-year to $9.12bn.

The trade deficit in services increased 5.87pc to $1.22bn in July-September on a year-on-year basis.
