RAWALPINDI, Aug 26: Rawalpindi beat Faisalabad by five wickets in the Inter Region Under-19 cricket championship at KRL Ground on Tuesday.

Usman Saeed (53 not out) and Waqas Zafar (32) guided Rawalpindi to the required target of 155 for the loss of five wickets in their second innings.

Rawalpindi thus collected 12 points from the victory after their opening match against Peshawar had ended in a washout at the same venue with neither side able to claim any points.

Faisalabad, 41 runs in arrears on the first innings, resumed their second knock on overnight 96 for seven wickets and put on another 100 runs before being all out for 196 in 77.4 overs.

Shehzad Ahmed and Naveed Haider made 48 each while Rizwan Akbar (3-60) and Umer Khaliq (4-41) were the main wicket-takers.

Rawalpindi made 243 in the first innings in reply to Faisalabad’s 201.
