SUKKUR, Aug 26: A group of 17 students of the Institute of Business Administration, Sukkur, held a protest demonstration and staged a sit-in in front of the press club on Tuesday in protest against the IBA, Sukkur, for denying them MCS degrees even though they had cleared the examinations.

The students said that the IBA, Karachi, had refused to award them a degree on the plea that the IBA, Sukkur, was not eligible for running an MCS degree course as it was not affiliated with the IBA, Karachi.

They claimed that the IBA, Sukkur, at the time of admissions told the students that they would get the degrees of BCS, MCS, MIT and postgraduate IT from the IBA, Karachi, as it was affiliated with it but when they passed their MCS exams, the IBA, Karachi, refused to award them a degree.

They said that the students who were presently studying at the IBA, Sukkur, had no future because each student had paid fees upto Rs150,000 in the name of the IBA, Karachi.

They further said that according to the IBA, Sukkur, it was affiliated with the IBA, Karachi, but the fact was that the institute was not affiliated with the IBA, Karachi, and their precious time had been wasted.

In this connection, the IBA, Karachi, is taking a plea that when the IBA, Sukkur, was established our examiners had taken entrance tests from the intending students of BBA, BBA (Hons) and MBA.

The IBA, Karachi, said we are obliged to award a degree to those students but afterwards the IBA, Sukkur, changed its policy and granted admissions in BCS and MCS courses without our consent or notice; therefore, we are not going to award degrees to the students who have been granted admissions without taking an entrance test.

The IBA, Karachi, further clarified that the students who had passed their MCS from the IBA, Sukkur, could only be granted a degree if they passed our entrance test.

The students demanded that the governor and chief minister, Sindh, take notice of the irregularities of the IBA, Sukkur, and take steps for awarding them an MCS degree from the IBA, Karachi.

They later met with the district Nazim and the DCO, Sukkur, to inform them about their problem.

RESOLUTION ADOPTED: The District Council, Sukkur, unanimously adopted a resolution in which it showed resentment over the allotment of the Mir Masoom Shah Library, Sukkur, and its plot to a private institute for construction of a private computer centre in an attractive location of Sukkur city.

The meeting was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the district Naib Nazim, Iqbal Dawood Pakwala.

The participants demanded that the chief minister and the governor, Sindh, take notice of the matter in which a private computer centre was being allotted the plot at a cheap price.

The meeting resolved that every step should be taken to stop such irregularities.

Later, the meeting was adjourned for Wednesday.

MAN KIDNAPPED: Some armed men raided the Nauraja village and kidnapped a man, Abdul Narejo alias Bhooral, 26, from his house on Monday.

Narejo tribesmen are claiming that Kalhoro tribesmen had kidnapped Abdul, while the latter are denying the allegation.
