KARACHI: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested three suspects linked with the banned Islamic State group from the outskirts of the city.

Acting on a tip-off provided by an intelligence agency, SITE Superhighway police conducted targeted raid on a home in Ahsanabad and arrested three suspects, said Malir SSP Rao Anwar Ahmed.

The held suspects were affiliated with IS.

Two 30-bore pistols, one 9mm pistol and jihadi literature was seized from their custody.

“Books, pamphlets, stickers and CDs regarding terrorism were recovered from their custody,” said the police officer.

They were trying to recruit the youth for militancy and terrorism.

The detained militants were identified as Mohammad Umer, Khalid Minhas and Shakeel Ahmed.
