Fahad, Fawad put Karachi on top

KARACHI, Aug 25: Brilliant centuries by Fahad Iqbal and Fawad Alam helped Karachi Under-19 Monday gain a commanding lead of 197 against Hyderabad Under-19 on Monday at Quaid-i-Azam Park,

Karachi, resuming at 134 for four declared in reply to Hyderabad’s 140 declared their innings at 377 for five wickets. The only wicket to fall was that of Fahad who made fine 186 from 276 deliveries. Fawad Alam was undefeated 114 when the declaration came.

Kashif Bhatti who removed Fahad finished with two wickets for 98 runs in 25 overs. Amir Abbas also had two for 94 runs in 19.

Hyderabad Under-19 were in trouble in their second innings and their openers were removed by pacer Tabish Khan with just 12 runs on the board. Shakeel Ahmad was out lbw for 6 and Adnan Brohi was bowled for one.

Taj Mohammed and Mohammed Ali were 6 and 17 not out at close of play. Hyderabad still require 163 to make Karachi bat again.
