QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday expressed his resolve to oppose and resist moves against national solidarity and the supremacy of the Constitution using democratic means.

Addressing a public meeting held in connection with his party’s the Mufti Mahmud Conference at Ayub Stadium here, he said his party was working for the elimination of corruption from the country.

The JUI-F chief accused international NGOs of trying to defame religious seminaries of the country.

The Maulana alleged that International NGOs were spreading obscenity and promoting corruption in Pakistan.

He claimed that opposition of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project by the United States and India was part of a conspiring against Pakistan.

The JUI-F chief suggested that number of seats in National Assembly should be increased, saying that the current representation of Balochistan in the parliament was insignificant.

He said students of religious seminaries had always worked for the promotion of democracy and the supremacy of law in the country. They would always be ready to defend the country and resist moves against Islam, he added.

He thanked participants of the public meeting for making the Mufti Mahmud Conference a successful event.

A large number of people from different parts of Balochistan came to Quetta to attend the conference.
