Islamabad airport

Published October 24, 2017

THIS is apropos the letter ‘Islamabad airport’. The writer has rightly lamented the problems being faced by the passengers while entering the existing airport.

Why can’t the authorities concerned sort out this problem once and for all? Had the new airport been constructed on time, these problems would not have arisen. But only God knows how many more years would be required to complete the new airport.

Is there nobody to ask why has this airport been delayed and who is responsible for the escalation in price and that too, not in the millions, but in billions of rupees?

Moreover, one wonders who is responsible for the faulty design of the new airport in which two runways have been constructed too close to each other to allow two aircraft to land or take-off at the same time. One doubts as to whether any programme evaluation review technique (Pert) chart had been followed during the construction process of this airport.

A Pert chart is a project management tool used to schedule, organise, and coordinate tasks within a project.

Lastly, was any estimated time allotted and followed to complete each activity of the airport project? If so, then why such a long delay has occurred?
