LAHORE: A special court of Child Protection and Welfare Bureau on Wednesday released on bail two conductors of Goong Mahal School’s bus involved in torturing two deaf mute children.

The suspects were arrested by the Ghalib Market police some five days ago after video of the incident went viral on social media. The video clips showed the conductors abusing and humiliating two special students.

The Ghalib market police arrested suspects Akram Shah and Hafiz Usman and presented them before a sessions court which transferred the case to the child protection court on Tuesday.

The suspects filed a bail petition and presiding judge Abdul Mustafa Nadeem granted them bail after parents of the children submitted an affidavit of compromise.

Meanwhile, Ghalib Market police arrested another conductor involved in another similar incident.

On Tuesday, a third video appeared on social media in which a peon of the school identified as Shaukat was torturing another student in the [school] bus.

The Ghalib Market police registered another child torture case under section 342, 506 of PPC and 35 of Child Protection Act. They also arrested Shaukat late on Tuesday night.

Investigating Officer Ziaullah said the suspect confessed to manhandling the child for teasing his classmates, adding they would present him before the court on Thursday to get his remand for further investigation.

A school committee also held an inquiry and is yet to submit its report to the principal.
