GUJRAT: Former PPP MPA Waseem Afzal Chan has formally joined the Pakistan Tehreek Insaf at a meeting with party chief Imran Khan at Islamabad on Wednesday.

According to sources, two former federal ministers of the PPP who have already joined the PTI -- Nazar Muhammad Gondal and Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan -- were also present.

As a gesture of welcoming the new entrant to party, Imran Khan garlanded Waseem Chan with a party flag.

Waseem is younger brother of senior PPP leader and party’s Punjab chapter secretary general Nadeem Afzal Chan. Their maternal uncle, Nazar Gondal, played a role in bringing Waseem Chan into PTI fold.

On the occasion, Waseem Chan lauded the PTI chairman’s policy of putting up strong resistance to “wrong policies” of the PML-N government and raising voice against the “corrupt mafia” in the country.

He pledged his support to the policies of Imran Khan.
