RAWALPINDI: The prosecutor general of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) departed for London from Islamabad on Wednesday, sources said.

Earlier on Tuesday night, the lawyer for ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Khawaja Harris, had also flown to the UK capital.

NAB Prosecutor General Waqas Qadeer Dar left on board the Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-785 from Benazir Bhutto International Airport at about 10.45am. The purpose of his visit could not be ascertained.

Mr Dar, who is considered to be close to Mr Sharif, was appointed prosecutor general of accountability.

Khawaja Harris, who flew by a Qatar Airways flight, will hold meetings with his client in London. He is likely to return by next week to appear before the accountability court which is hearing corruption references against Mr Sharif.
