Farmer shot dead over water dispute

OKARA, Aug 23: A farmer was shot dead while two others sustained injuries over the dispute of watering the fields in Bahmaat Wala village near Haveli Lakha.

Khurshid, Nawazish and Yasin were watering fields when Javed, Ashraf, Fiaz alias Mumman, Murtaza, Akhtar and a woman, Sakina, came there. They stopped them from watering the fields and started plugging the water outlet.

Khurshid came forward to stop them and Fiaz started firing as a result Khurshid died on the spot while Nawazish and Yasin sustained bullet injuries. They were rushed to hospital.

ACCIDENTS: Two people were killed in as many accidents.

Nadeem knocked down a woman, Niamat, who was waiting for a conveyance near Basirpur as he lost control over his speedy motorcycle. She died on the spot.

In the second incident, friends Asif and Mumtaz were on way to their village by a motorcycle when an oil-tanker hit them. Asif died on the spot while Mumtaz sustained injuries.
