KARACHI: Police claimed to have killed two suspected bandits in a ‘shoot-out’ near Super Highway on Tuesday.

Officials said that a police party on a tip-off about the presence of some criminal elements raided a hideout near Janjal Goth.

“The armed men in the hideout attacked the personnel of our team when they were taking positions. The attack led to retaliation from the police which triggered an exchange of gunfire. After an encounter, both armed men were killed,” said SSP of Malir Rao Anwar.

The police, he said, seized two 30-bore pistols from their possession and a motorcycle from the hideout.

One of the deceased “bandits” was identified as Ziarat Gul and “the two were wanted in several cases of robberies on the highway”, SSP Anwar said.

“During one of the robberies last month, they had killed a woman on offering resistance,” he added.

The bodies were first moved to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and then to the Edhi morgue.
