ISLAMABAD: The Businessmen Panel (BMP) of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) demanded on Monday that the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) should be restructured.

A statement by the BMP said the Ministry of Commerce must appoint a CEO at TDAP so that it can start playing its role in boosting exports.

BMP spokesperson Ahmad Jawad criticised the performance of the former TDAP CEO, saying he failed to increase exports during his three-year term.

Mr Jawad said Pakistan’s GSP+ status granted by the European Union (EU) was in jeopardy. “The ministry should seek a comprehensive report from TDAP to review the number of events held in the last three years in the EU to promote exports under the GSP+ scheme,” he added.
