MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 23: Azad Kashmir President Sardar Mohammed Anwar Khan on Saturday asked Speaker Amir Hussain to hold a debate on the Kashmir issue in the National Assembly to evolve a consensus of all political parties.

Speaking at a rally held at Neelabut in Bagh district to observe the Yaume-i-Neelabut, he said that unless New Delhi showed seriousness and sincerity in resolving the dispute, no talks or confidence-building measures could fruitful. He said there was contradiction in the statements and actions of the Indian leadership.

He said the offer of a hand opf friendship by Prime Minister Vajpayee was but it had to be seen if he took any measures for the peaceful solution of the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes of Kashmiri people.

He said exchange of delegations and revival of diplomatic ties and trade would not be enough to serve the purpose.

AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat said the Kashmiri people were determined to continue the struggle launched against the Dogra rulers and continued against the Indian occupation forces till the freedom of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and its accession to Pakistan.

He said the Kashmiris had offered unprecedented sacrifices for the goal.

He said that since Kashmiris were the real party to the dispute, no talks could bear result without taking them into confidence.

He said Kashmir and Pakistan were essential for each other.

Through a resolution, the Kashmir policy of President Gen Pervez Musharraf was appreciated.

The National Assembly speaker was the chief guest on the occasion.

The speakers paid tribute to Kashmiri martyrs and freedom fighters.—APP
