Gen Bajwa conveys concerns over regional instability to US

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa highlighted the concerns of Pakistan regarding peace and stability in the region in front of a delegation comprising US ambassadors and officials, military's media wing reported.

Arrording to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief reiterated that "Pakistan has done its best despite constraints, and shall continue its efforts for the sake of the future of Pakistan and in line with the aspirations of Pakistani people."

The delegation, comprising Lisa Curtis, Ambassador Alice G. Wells, Ambassador David Hale and others representatives briefed the army chief on contours of the US strategy in South Asia.

The discussion focused on regional security situation including Afghanistan and that how Pakistan has positively contributed towards peace and stability in the region, ISPR said.

The delegation appreciated and acknowledged Pakistan Army's contributions and Pakistan’s sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

Excellent statement from Gen. Bajwa. Pakistan has done more than its share and suffered more than its share for problems arising from Afghanistan. Now is time that Pakistan should put its conditions for participation in war on terror or war in Afghanistan. Otherwise, let Afghans and its friends fix the problem at their own, and not ask any help from Pakistan. Good by Afghanistan, have a nice day. You don't call us, we won't call you.

Speaking 'loud and clear' does not necessarily make it so ..... What Pakistan need is deeds ..... not words. The rescue of the US Canadian couple is a positive development. More needs to be done. The very fact that an entire US delegation has to come and discuss the matter of terrorism, higlights the fact that there is a lacuna of trust. This did not happen overnight .... it took a decade. It might take a decade to regain that trust again.

Gen you are the officer and the entire armed forces that we the public support and hold high in esteem. Yes, Pakistan has done more than enough its part to eradicate terrorism. But your civilian counter part politicians failed to highlight our efforts internationally. Thank you.
