Enraged students set a bus ablaze on Thursday after the vehicle ran over a student in Daska sub-district of Sialkot, police and rescue officials said.

Hazima Aijaz, a student of a local private college, was hit by the bus while he was crossing a road in the area. Aijaz died on the spot and his body was shifted to Civil Hospital Daska for post-mortem examination.

Later, the fellow students of the deceased and local residents set the bus on fire.

The driver of the bus managed to flee and took shelter in a private school. Subsequently, the enraged students and people resorted to agitation and cordoned off the school building.

When informed, a heavy contingent of police rushed to the scene and arrested the driver before shifting him to Sialkot.
