HYDERABAD, Aug 21: Acting Sindh Governor Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah Wednesday announced the revival of scholarship for the students of Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam.

During his visit to the university, he said, the scholarship suspended in 1995, would be awarded from this year.

The acting governor assured that the agriculture graduates would be employed in government and private institutions on the priority basis to encourage agriculture education in Sindh.

Addressing teaching staff of the university, he called for an integrated agricultural management so that growers could derive maximum benefits from latest research, water management, modern methodologies of crops at their door steps.

Mr Shah said there had been lack of coordination between different organizations and institutions which continued to work for betterment of agriculture.

He said decline in the agriculture sector had resulted in migration from rural to urban area, multiplying the civic problems of urban areas.

Mr Shah said Sindh’s economy and civilization depended on the Indus since centuries. He said agriculture was the only sector which could generate 70 to 80 per cent job opportunities for people.

The acting governor said the government was striving hard to bring about green revolution in the country.

Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Marwat said Sindh government had earmarked Rs1 billion for endowment funds and assured that the university would be included in list of beneficiary institutions.

Sindh Minister for Auqaf, Zakat and Ushr, Religious/ Minorities Affairs, Dr Irfan Gul Magsi also offered scholarships for deserving students of the university and asked the management to provide a list of students.

He held out an assurance that no agriculture student would be deprived of his right to education on account of his financial problems.
