KARACHI: The executive committee of the Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) has been revamped with the induction of half-a-dozen new people at the expense of former office-bearers.

According to the KHA, the new inductees include S. A. Majid, Chaudhry Mohammad Ashraf (vice presidents), Zia-ul-Islam, Farhan Raza, Majid Rafique and Sadat Hafeez (members).

Majid came in place of the late Qadeer Ahmed while Ashraf succeeded Talat Mehmood.

Baldia Hockey Club and Al Faisal Hockey Club nominated Rafique and Hafeez. Zia-ul-Islam replaced Mansoor Ahmed while Farhan Raza was nominated by Nawab Ali XI.

A decision in this regard was taken during the executive committee meeting of the KHA which met at the their sports complex with its president Dr Junaid Ali Shah in the chair.

At the outset, fateha was offered for the late Qadeer Ahmed, who was the vice-president of the KHA and had organised Nawab Ali-M. Ismail inter-school hockey tournaments for three consecutive years.

The members were informed that marriage lawns at the premises have now ceased to exists.

The meeting also discussed plans for the uplifting of national game in the city and at the KHA complex where a mini-astro turf is being laid soon.

The members also reposed their confidence in the president and assured to work with cohesion.

Representatives of fifteen local clubs out of 21 attended the meeting.
