Low-lying areas in Vehari inundated

VEHARI, Aug 20: A strong windstorm followed by heavy rain on Wednesday lashed the town and its surrounding areas, inundating the low-lying areas and choking the sewerage system.

The windstorm which increased in strength, till it was blowing quite a gale, uprooted scores of trees, electric and telephone poles, suspending power supply and communication link.

The most affected localities were Pirmurad, 9-11/WB, Peoples Colony, Danywal, Muslim Town, College Town, Liaquatpura and Masani Bagh.
