LAHORE: Nisar Ali was named national captain on Thursday as the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) curtailed the list of probables from 34 to 23 for a training camp set up for the 2018 World Cup of the Blind.

The 2018 World Cup will be staged in Pakistan and the UAE in January next year. The PBCC also appoi­nted Amir Ishfaq as Nisar’s deputy.

According to a PBCC press release, the selection committee headed by Syed Mohammad Salman Tariq Bokhari with Masood Jan and Ibrar Shah as members shortlisted the players after watching their performance and physical fitness at the training camp organised in Okara from Sept 9 to 15.

The conditioning camp for the probables will be held from Oct 22 to 29 in Faisalabad.

Probables:

Category B1: Amir Ishfaq (vice-captain), Zafar Iqbal, Sajid Nawaz, Mohammad Ayyaz, Riasat Khan, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Osama, Haroon Khan.

Category B2: Moeen Ali, Badar Munir, Anees Javed, Nisar Ali (captain), Mohammad Ayub Khan, Zeeshan Abbasi.

Category B3: Mohammad Jamil, Mohsin Khan, Israr Hassan, Mohammad Ejaz, Mateeullah, Mohammad Rashid, Kamran Akhtar, Sanaullah, Rahsidullah.
